Guides, not calculators

Some things are worth reading rather than computing. These explain what the tools above return.

Every dosha in a horoscope, explained

Kaal Sarp, Mangal, Pitra, Nadi, Shrapit, Kemadruma, Guru Chandal and the rest — what each is, how it is judged, and what tradition prescribes for it.

Already know you want yours checked? Run the Dosha Check — it computes which are present in your own chart.

The 27 nakshatras

Each birth star with its ruling planet, deity, symbol and the qualities tradition attributes to it — and the Nakshatra Homa performed for each.

Understanding the dasha system

What Vimshottari is, why the period you are running matters more than most placements, and how mahadasha and antardasha are read together.

Reading a Panchang

The five limbs — tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga and karana — and how Rahu Kalam, Yamagandam and Gulikai are derived and used.

Baby names by nakshatra

The syllables traditionally assigned to each pada of the twenty-seven birth stars, with names for each — and the Namakarana muhurat for the naming itself.

What to do with what you find

A calculation tells you what is there. It does not tell you what to do about it — that is where these tools hand over.

If a dosha is flagged

Each has a prescribed remedy, and they are not interchangeable — Kaal Sarp, Mangal, Pitra and Nadi each have their own rite. See the Dosha Nivarana rituals →

If you're not sure what it means

How strongly a dosha acts, over what period, and what it touches in your life is a reading rather than a lookup.

If you know the difficulty, not the ritual

Describe your situation in plain words and Sarathi will name what tradition prescribes — free, and at any hour. Ask Sarathi →

Sign in and your birth profiles stay with you

Every tool works without an account. If you sign in and choose to save, your family’s birth details become reusable profiles — so you do not re-enter them, and a ritual form can reuse the same details. Tool results are not saved silently.

About these tools

Free, with no paid tier and no limit on how often you use them. We offer them because a devotee who knows what their chart holds can choose a ritual sensibly, and because the calculations cost us nothing to run once built. What is paid is the human work: a live consultation with an astrologer, and the rituals themselves.
Vedic throughout: sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, which is the standard in India and the basis our astrologers work from. This is why your sign here may differ by one from a Western horoscope — the two systems measure from different starting points, and neither is a mistake.
The chart will still compute, but the lagna (ascendant) and the house positions depend on the time, so those become approximate — the rashi and nakshatra, which come from the Moon, remain reliable. If the time is unknown, our astrologers can work from the date and place, and rituals do not require it.
No, and nothing here is designed to push you into one. If a tool flags a dosha we tell you which ritual tradition prescribes for it, because leaving that unsaid would be unhelpful — but the tools are complete in themselves and many devotees use them for years without booking anything.
Without signing in, AstroBhava does not create a profile or a saved result. Birth details are submitted to calculate the page and can appear in its URL and in standard server logs, but they are not added to a reusable account record. If you are signed in, typed details are still never saved silently — the result offers you the choice to save them as a birth profile. Profiles can be edited or deleted from your account. We do not sell or share birth data.
It does not. Guna milan is one measure among several, and a low score is customarily read alongside the full charts rather than treated as a verdict — some doshas are cancelled by other placements, which a points total cannot show. If a match matters to you, have both charts read properly. A consultation →

When a calculation isn't enough

A tool computes; an astrologer reads. For what a placement actually means for you — its strength, its timing, and what it touches — book a live session with one of our astrologers. The fee is credited in full against any ritual you book afterwards, so the reading effectively costs nothing if you act on it.

Why we give these away

Most astrology sites gate their calculators behind a sign-up, then sell the result back as a report. We do neither. The arithmetic of a birth chart is settled — the ephemeris is the ephemeris, and a kundli computed correctly is the same kundli whoever computes it. There is nothing to sell in that, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.

What is genuinely worth paying for is the human judgement above the arithmetic: an astrologer who can read the whole chart and tell you which placement matters and when, and priests who can perform the rite tradition prescribes. That is what AstroBhava charges for. The calculations that lead you there are yours, free, as often as you want them.
