Saturn Transit 2026 — Shani Peyarchi for all twelve rashis.

Saturn moves slowly — roughly two and a half years in each sign — so its transit shapes a long stretch of life rather than a season. These are the engine-calculated dates of the current transit and the house reading for every Moon sign.

Readings are by Moon sign, which is what Vedic astrology means by “your rashi” — not your Sun sign.

    Mesha Aries

    Sade Sati — rising phase
    Saturn in your 12th house

Expenditure, foreign lands and seclusion, and the first phase of Sade Sati begins. Costs rise and matters conclude that have run their course.

    Vrishabha Taurus

    Favourable
    Saturn in your 11th house

Gains, income and networks. Saturn is strong in its own sign here and the eleventh is an upachaya house — steady accumulation rather than obstruction. Sade Sati begins when Saturn leaves.

    Vrischika Scorpio

    Mixed
    Saturn in your 5th house

Children, learning and creativity. Saturn slows what should flow — study takes longer and creative work resists. Patience with children is counselled.

    Makara Capricorn

    Favourable
    Saturn in your 3rd house

Courage, effort and siblings. Saturn is strong here — sustained effort yields disproportionately, and scattered initiative becomes directed.

    Meena Pisces

    Sade Sati — peak phase
    Saturn in your 1st house

    In detail

The three Saturn positions that carry names

Most transits are read from the house Saturn occupies. Three placements are named separately because tradition weighs them heavily.

Sade Sati — the seven and a half years

Saturn transiting the 12th, 1st and 2nd from your birth Moon — two and a half years in each, seven and a half in total. It reaches everyone roughly every thirty years, so most people live through it two or three times.

The middle phase, with Saturn over the Moon itself, is read as the most demanding. The texts treat it as a period of labour and consolidation rather than as misfortune — what is built during it tends to hold.

Ashtama Shani — the eighth house

Saturn transiting the 8th from your Moon, for roughly two and a half years. The 8th governs sudden change, longevity and what has been left unaddressed, and Saturn's slow pressure there is read as bringing those matters forward.

It is the transit for which remedies are most consistently prescribed. It is also frequently confused with Sade Sati, which is a different placement entirely.

Kantaka Shani — the fourth house

Saturn transiting the 4th from your Moon, the house of home, mother, property and inner contentment. This period is also called Ardha Ashtama Shani and is commonly grouped under the two-and-a-half-year Dhaiyya periods.

Regional naming varies. AstroBhava uses the fourth-house or Ardha-Ashtama convention consistently across its Saturn tools. It is distinct from Sade Sati and is never labelled as one of its three phases.

Why the rashi reading is only a start

Every reading above is written for a whole Moon sign — one twelfth of everyone alive. What Saturn actually does depends on where it sits in your birth chart, what it rules there, whether it is strong or afflicted, and which dasha you are running.

A Sade Sati with a well-placed Saturn is a different experience from a Sade Sati with a debilitated one. That distinction cannot be made from a rashi alone.

Why the same transit is not the same for two people

A rashi is one twelfth of everyone. Roughly a hundred million people share your Moon sign, and the reading above applies to all of them equally. It is useful as a general indication and no more than that — anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling.

Three things change what Saturn actually does. Where Saturn sits in your birth chart and what it rules there. Whether it is strong, debilitated, or aspected by benefics. And which dasha you are running — a Saturn transit during a Saturn mahadasha is a different matter from the same transit during a Jupiter period.

Which is why the check at the top exists. It tells you the house Saturn occupies from your own Moon and whether Sade Sati, Ashtama Shani or Kantaka Shani applies to you specifically. For what it means in your chart — its strength, its timing, and whether the remedies are warranted — that is a reading, and the fee is credited in full against any ritual you book.

    About the Saturn transit

No, and the classical texts are far more measured than the popular accounts. Sade Sati is read as a period of labour, responsibility and consolidation — demanding rather than calamitous. Many people build the most durable things in their lives during it. Its severity depends heavily on Saturn's condition in the birth chart, which is why two people in Sade Sati at the same time can have entirely different experiences.

Moon sign — your rashi. Vedic transit readings are counted from the Moon, not the Sun, which is the opposite of Western practice. If you have only ever known a Sun sign from a newspaper horoscope, the reading you want above is probably not the one you would pick. Generate a free kundli and it will tell you your rashi.

It refines rather than reverses it. Retrograde Saturn re-covers ground it has already crossed, and the classical reading is that matters from earlier in the transit return for completion. Where Saturn retrogrades back into the previous sign, the transit effectively pauses and resumes — which is why the dates above matter as much as the sign.

A transit and a period. Sade Sati is where Saturn is in the sky right now relative to your Moon, and it reaches everyone roughly every thirty years. A Shani mahadasha is a nineteen-year span allotted by your birth nakshatra, on a fixed schedule for life. You can be in both at once, either alone, or neither. Check your dasha separately.

Not without an astrologer's advice, and we would say that plainly. Neelam is the most reactive of the gemstones in classical practice — it is said to show its effect quickly, in either direction — and it is prescribed only where Saturn's condition in the birth chart genuinely warrants it. A rashi reading is nowhere near sufficient grounds. Mantra and the prescribed rite carry no such caution.

The dates are at the top of this page and we update them as the transit progresses, including retrograde periods. Saturn spends roughly two and a half years in each sign, so a change of sign is a genuine event in Vedic terms — Shani Peyarchi — and it shifts the reading for every rashi at once.

A rashi reading is general. Your chart is not.

If Saturn's transit is falling heavily — Sade Sati, Ashtama Shani, or simply a year that has been harder than it should be — a live session reads Saturn's actual position in your chart and tells you what applies and for how long. The fee is credited in full against any ritual you book afterwards.
