The Ritual and Its Weight

Every plot of land has a presence lying across it. The Shastras call him Vastu Purusha — pressed face down into the earth, held there by the forty-five devatas who occupy the squares of his body. When a house is built without honouring him, or when construction, renovation or long neglect disturbs that grid, the dwelling turns restless. Money comes in and slips out. Work is done but not rewarded. Debts stretch longer than they should. The Vastu Homa is the traditional remedy for exactly this: a fire offering made to Vastu Purusha and the devatas of the site, asking their forgiveness and their consent.

In the Finance and Wealth tradition, this homa is placed close to the root of the matter. Lakshmi is said to be reluctant where the ground is uneasy. So before you chase income, you settle the place income must rest in. Ghee, rice, navadhanya and specific samidha are offered while the Vastu Sukta is recited. Corners are named. The site is asked to hold. Devotees book the Vastu Homa when moving into a new home, after building or altering one, when starting a business at a new premises, or when a household has felt a slow, unexplained drain on its finances for years.

वास्तोष्पते प्रति जानीह्यस्मान् स्वावेशो अनमीवो भवा नः । यत्त्वेमहे प्रति तन्नो जुषस्व शं नो भव द्विपदे शं चतुष्पदे ॥ O Lord of the Dwelling, recognise us and know us; be a welcoming home to us, free of affliction — grant what we ask of you, and be a blessing to our people and to our animals alike.

Why Devotees Book This

The Vastu Homa is prescribed by tradition for households and businesses where the place itself seems to work against the earning done inside it.

Prosperity that settles

The rite invokes Vastu Purusha so the dwelling becomes a fit seat for Lakshmi, rather than a place wealth passes through.

Steadiness in income

Offered by families whose earnings arrive in bursts and vanish, seeking regularity and rhythm in what comes in.

Relief from the weight of debt

Traditionally performed when loans keep multiplying and repayment never quite closes, asking that the burden ease.

A new home begun rightly

Before or soon after moving in, the site is honoured and the forty-five devatas of the grid are given their share.

Business premises set in order

Shops, offices and workshops are brought under the same invocation, so that trade done there is not obstructed.

Peace within the walls

The Vastu Sukta asks for a dwelling free of affliction — quieter days, fewer friction points, easier sleep for the household.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Vastu Purusha Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Vastu Purusha — the goddess of knowledge itself

Vastu Purusha is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Vastu Purusha Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

Vastu Homam is a Vedic fire ritual offered to Vastu Purusha, the presence who lies across every plot of land, and to the forty-five devatas seated on the squares of his body. Ghee, grain and specific samidha are offered while the Vastu Sukta is chanted, asking the dwelling to be peaceful, welcoming and fit to hold prosperity.
Vastu Shastra is the classical Indian science of building — how a house should be oriented, where the entrance, kitchen, water source, hearth and sleeping rooms belong, and how the eight directions relate to the life lived inside. It treats a home as a living grid rather than an arrangement of rooms.
Devotees usually begin with a compass and the plan of the house — noting the facing of the main door, the direction of the kitchen and water sources, and the placement of heavy structures. Proper assessment, though, is the work of a trained Vastu consultant. AstroBhava's role is the remedial fire rite, not the survey.
Vastu Homa is the same rite as Vastu Homam — the two spellings are used interchangeably across regions. It is the traditional remedy performed when a dwelling or business premises feels unsettled, when construction has disturbed the site, or when a household seeks steady income and relief from debt.
The tradition holds that the place you live in participates in the life you live. Vastu Shastra records this in detail, and the Vastu Homa is its prescribed fire remedy, performed for centuries at housewarmings and foundations. We perform the rite faithfully as the Shastras set it down; the fruit of any homa rests with the devatas and with one's own karma.
Look first at direction — where the house faces, where the kitchen fire sits, where water enters and leaves, and which corner carries the most weight. Compare this against the classical grid. For anything beyond a first reading, consult a Vastu practitioner who can study your plan in person.
The classical method places the Vastu Purusha Mandala — a grid of eighty-one or sixty-four squares — over the plot, assigning each square to a devata and each zone to a direction. Rooms and functions are then matched to their proper squares. It is a technical calculation and is best done by a trained consultant, not from a chart online.
In the Vedic tradition, yes — enough that no traditional Griha Pravesham is held without honouring Vastu Purusha first. The Shastras place the dwelling at the root of a family's prosperity and peace, which is why the Vastu Homa is grouped under wealth rites rather than treated as an afterthought.
It is a fire offering to Vastu Purusha and the devatas of the site, seeking their consent and forgiveness for the dwelling raised over them. Its significance lies in settling the ground before seeking gain from it — the tradition holds that Lakshmi is reluctant to stay where the site is uneasy.
Tradition prescribes it for prosperity, steady income, relief from mounting debt and general financial stability, as well as peace within the household. It is also offered to remove obstruction at a new home or business premises. We do not promise outcomes — we perform the rite as it is laid down.
The homa itself must be performed by qualified priests trained in the Vastu Sukta and the fire procedure — and that is what AstroBhava arranges. It is booked by those moving into a new house, those who have built, renovated or repaired, those opening a new shop or office, and households facing a long, unexplained drain on their finances.
Around Griha Pravesham, or soon after construction and renovation, is ideal. Rohini, Mrigashira, Uttara and Hasta nakshatras are favoured, as are Akshaya Tritiya and other wealth days. Share your birth details and purpose when you book, and our priests will fix the muhurat for you.
Priests begin with sankalpa in your name and gotra, followed by Ganapati puja and punyahavachanam. The kalasha is established, Vastu Purusha and the site devatas are invoked, and the kunda is lit. Ghee, navadhanya, rice, samidha and herbs are offered through the recitation of the Vastu Sukta and the Vastu mantra — chanted in Sanskrit, though devotees who know it as vastu homa mantra in Kannada or Telugu will recognise the same verses in their own script. Purnahuti and prarthana close the rite.
Book online from any country on this page. Send your name, gotra and birth details along with your sankalpa.
