The Ritual and Its Weight

Arugampul is the humble durva grass that grows low, spreads wide, and refuses to die back. Tradition holds it dearest to Ganapati, and the Arukampul Homa is built entirely around it. Bundles of fresh three-bladed grass are gathered, purified, dipped in ghee and offered into the kunda while the Ganapati mantra is chanted, count after count. The offering is simple on purpose. What is asked for is not grandeur but movement — a path that opens, a file that clears, a conversation that finally goes somewhere.

Business runs on openings. A licence that stalls, a client who goes quiet, a launch that keeps slipping — these are the obstructions the tradition places at Ganapati's feet before anything else begins. The arukampul homam is therefore prescribed at the threshold of things: a new firm, a new branch of work, a partnership being signed, a season that must go better than the last. You are not buying an outcome. You are beginning the way our elders began, with fire, grass and the name of the one who removes what stands in the way.

ॐ गं गणपतये नमः Salutations to Ganapati, lord of beginnings, who removes what obstructs the path.

Why Devotees Book This

Devotees turn to the Arukampul Homa when their work needs a door to open. These are the intentions the tradition attaches to the rite.

For growth in trade

Offered when a business must expand — more orders, wider reach, steadier turnover through the year.

For new opportunities

Sought before stepping into unfamiliar markets, new lines of work, or an offer you did not expect.

For deals that must close

Performed while a contract, tender or partnership sits unsigned, asking that the last obstacles fall away.

For clearing obstructions

Ganapati is invoked as Vighnaharta, for approvals, permits and files that keep stalling without reason.

For an auspicious start

Traditionally done at the opening of a shop, office, factory or fiscal year, so the first step is taken in fire and mantra.

For steady, rooted prosperity

Durva grass spreads quietly and endures. The homa is offered in that spirit — for growth that holds rather than growth that flares.

Sacred Timing

The Arukampul Homa is set on days the tradition links to Ganapati and to beginnings. Our priests fix the muhurat against your intention and, if you share it, your birth details.

Chaturthi tithi

The fourth lunar day, Ganapati's own tithi. Sankashti Chaturthi in the waning fortnight is especially favoured when obstructions are the concern.

Vinayaka Chaturthi

The great annual day of Ganapati. Bookings for this date are taken well in advance and are considered highly auspicious for ventures.

Business beginnings

The eve of a shop opening, a product launch, a signing, or the first day of a new financial year — the homa is placed before the first step.

Wednesday and Hasta nakshatra

Wednesday, ruled by Budha, is associated with commerce and negotiation; Hasta is chosen for skilled hands and work well executed.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Ganapati Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

After it arrives

How to wear your energised Ganapati Yantra

The energised yantra is carefully rolled and sealed inside a sacred silver amulet before shipping. Wearing it is itself a small ritual — and even its timing is set for you personally.

Who is invoked

Ganapati — the goddess of knowledge itself

Ganapati is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Ganapati Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Arukampul Homa is a fire ritual in which fresh arugampul — durva grass, the three-bladed grass most beloved of Ganapati — is dipped in ghee and offered into the kunda with the Ganapati mantra. Durva is the poorest and most persistent of offerings, and tradition says Ganapati accepts it above gold. The rite is performed at thresholds: the start of a venture, the signing of an agreement, the reopening of stalled work. Its significance lies in asking the remover of obstacles to clear the path before you walk it.
Tradition prescribes the arukampul homam for growth in business, for new opportunities and markets, for deals and tenders that need to close, and for the clearing of approvals, permits and paperwork that keep stalling. It is also offered as an auspicious opening rite for a shop, office or new financial year. The homa is an act of prayer and surrender, not a guarantee of any particular result.
Business owners, traders, partners in a firm, professionals building a practice, and anyone about to launch something new. It is also taken up by those whose work feels blocked — repeated delays, negotiations that stall, files that do not move. Families often sponsor it on behalf of a son or daughter starting out. Qualified priests perform the fire ritual on your behalf at our Yagna Ashram; you take part by intention and by watching it live.
Chaturthi tithi is the classical choice, with Sankashti Chaturthi favoured when obstruction is the main concern and Vinayaka Chaturthi held as the most auspicious day of the year. Wednesdays, Hasta nakshatra, and the eve of a launch, signing or new fiscal year are also used. Our priests set the exact muhurat once you book, keeping your purpose and birth details in view.
The priests begin with sankalpa in your name, gotra and nakshatra, followed by Ganapati puja, kalasha sthapana and purification of the kunda. Agni is invoked and fed with samidha. Bundles of fresh arugampul grass, cleaned and dipped in ghee, are then offered blade by blade through the japa of the Ganapati mantra, along with modaka, coconut, sesame, rice, honey and fragrant dravyas. The rite closes with purnahuti, deeparadhana and prayers for your work and household.
