Kurma Homa

Also spelled Kurma Homam

कूर्म होम

The tortoise avatar who bore a mountain on his back — invoked when your work needs a base that will not shift.

  • Performed for you alone — never a group ceremony
  • Muhurta fixed from your own birth chart, confirmed within 24–48 working hours
  • Free energised yantra, sealed in a silver amulet, shipped worldwide at no charge

The Ritual and Its Weight

When the devas and asuras churned the ocean, the churning mountain began to sink. Vishnu took the form of Kurma, the great tortoise, and slid beneath it. The mountain held. The churning went on, and the nectar rose. The Kurma Homa is offered to that steadiness — the unseen support that lets effort actually turn into yield.

In business, most losses come not from lack of effort but from ground that gives way: a partner who withdraws, a deal that slips at signature, an expansion built on soft footing. The kurma homam is prescribed for exactly this. Mantras to Kurma are chanted into the fire while offerings of ghee, grains and herbs are made, asking that your ventures rest on something that will bear weight. Tradition also links Kurma with patient, unhurried growth — the pace of a business that lasts.

ॐ नमो भगवते कूर्मरूपिणे मन्दराचलधारिणे अमृतोद्भवकारणाय नमः Salutations to the Lord who took the form of the tortoise, who bore the Mandara mountain upon his back and became the cause of the nectar's rising.

Sacred Timing

Kurma is a form of Vishnu, so his days and stars carry the rite well. Our priests fix the muhurat against your birth details.

Thursdays and Saturdays

Thursday, sacred to Vishnu, and Saturday, favoured for work that must endure, are both traditionally chosen for the kurma homam.

Shravana, Rohini and Uttarabhadrapada nakshatras

These Vishnu-linked stars are considered especially suitable for rites seeking stability and steady increase.

Dwadashi and Ekadashi tithis

The eleventh and twelfth lunar days are long held to favour offerings to Vishnu in any of his avatara forms.

Before a launch or signing

Many devotees book the homa ahead of a new venture, an office opening, a funding round or a major contract.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Kurma Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Kurma — the goddess of knowledge itself

Kurma is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Kurma Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Kurma Homa is a fire ritual offered to Kurma, the tortoise avatara of Vishnu who bore the Mandara mountain during the churning of the ocean of milk. Its significance lies in that image of unmoving support. The kurma homam is performed to place your work, your ventures and your commitments on ground that can carry them, so that sustained effort has a chance to yield.
Tradition prescribes the kurma homa for growth in business, for new opportunities and markets, for deals and negotiations that need to reach completion, and for durability in partnerships and contracts. It is also invoked when the same obstruction keeps recurring across ventures. The rite is an offering and a prayer, not a guarantee of any specific commercial result.
Business owners, founders, traders, contractors and professionals who are expanding, launching something new, or working through a period where progress keeps slipping. Families also sponsor it before a new commercial premises or a joint venture. Your kurma homam is performed on your behalf by qualified priests at our Yagna Ashram — you take part by watching the live telecast and holding your sankalpa.
Thursdays and Saturdays are commonly chosen, as are the Vishnu-linked nakshatras Shravana, Rohini and Uttarabhadrapada, and the Ekadashi and Dwadashi tithis. Many devotees also time the homa just before a launch, a signing or an expansion. When you book, our priests select the muhurat using your birth star and your stated intention.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and punyahavachana, then take the sankalpa in your name, gotra and nakshatra. The kalasha is established and Kurma is invoked. Agni is kindled in the kunda and the Kurma mantras are chanted with ahutis of cow ghee, samidha, havan samagri, grains, sesame, honey and specified herbs. Purnahuti closes the offering, followed by arati, deeparadhana and prayers for your ventures. Prasadam and an energised yantra are then couriered to you, wherever you are.
Book online from any country on this page. Give your name, gotra and birth star, along with a short note on your business or venture. Our team confirms the muhurat and sends you the link to the live telecast from our Yagna Ashram in Coimbatore. After the rite, prasadam and the energised yantra are couriered to your address free of charge.
