Kanakadhara Homa

Also spelled Kanakadhara Homam

कनकधारा होम

The golden stream that Shankara's hymn once drew down, invoked in fire for your work, your ventures and the deals waiting to open.

  • Performed for you alone — never a group ceremony
  • Muhurta fixed from your own birth chart, confirmed within 24–48 working hours
  • Free energised yantra, sealed in a silver amulet, shipped worldwide at no charge

The Ritual and Its Weight

The Kanakadhara Homa takes its name from a moment in Adi Shankaracharya's life. A poor woman offered him a single dried amla, all she had. Moved, he sang eighteen verses to Mahalakshmi, and a shower of golden amla fell into her courtyard. Those verses became the Kanakadhara Stotram, and the homa built around them carries the same intent — that abundance may flow where effort and devotion already stand.

In the Business tradition, the kanakadhara homam is turned toward livelihood. Merchants offer it before opening a new line of trade. Founders offer it when a venture needs momentum. The oblations are made into the fire while the Kanakadhara verses are chanted, so that the Goddess's sidelong glance — the apanga-lila the hymn praises — falls upon your work. Our priests perform it at the Yagna Ashram in your name and gotra, and you watch the flames live from wherever you are.

May the playful sidelong glance of Lakshmi, goddess of all auspiciousness — she who rests upon Vishnu as a bee rests upon a blossoming tamala tree, and who holds every form of prosperity within her — bring good fortune to me.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Kanakadhara Lakshmi Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Kanakadhara Lakshmi — the goddess of knowledge itself

Kanakadhara Lakshmi is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Kanakadhara Lakshmi Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Kanakadhara Homa is a fire ritual to Kanakadhara Lakshmi, the form of Mahalakshmi praised in Adi Shankaracharya's Kanakadhara Stotram. When a poor woman gave the young Shankara her last amla, he sang these verses and a shower of golden fruit fell into her home. The homa carries that intent forward — abundance flowing toward honest effort. In the Business tradition it is offered for growth in trade, new openings and success in ventures.
Tradition prescribes the kanakadhara homam for business growth, fresh opportunities, favour in negotiations and deals, steadier cash flow, harmony among partners and an auspicious start to new ventures. It is a prayer, not a promise — the rite is offered so that your work meets a more favourable field.
Business owners, traders, founders and self-employed professionals seeking growth or a new opening. It is also offered by those beginning a venture, entering a partnership, or facing a period when income arrives unevenly. Anyone may sponsor it, from any country. Our qualified priests perform the fire ritual on your behalf; you need only send your name, gotra and birth details.
Fridays are foremost, especially in the Shukla Paksha, as is Varalakshmi Vratam and Akshaya Tritiya. Rohini, Uttara Phalguni and Shravana nakshatras are also considered suitable. Many devotees time it just before a launch, a tender or a signing. Once you book, our priests choose the muhurat from the panchanga and your chart, and confirm the date with you.
The rite begins with achamana, Ganapati puja and a sankalpa taken in your name and gotra. Kalasha sthapana and Lakshmi avahana follow. Agni is invoked in the kunda, and oblations are offered through the eighteen verses of the Kanakadhara Stotram along with the Sri Suktam and Lakshmi mantras. The homa samagri list includes ghee, navadhanya, lotus seeds, bilva and tulsi, amla, sugarcane and honey, camphor, sandal and turmeric. It closes with purnahuti, aarti and prasadam. All samagri is arranged by us at the Yagna Ashram.
Book online from the package options on this page and send your name, gotra, birth star and your sankalpa. Our priests fix the muhurat and confirm it with you. On the day, the homa is telecast live from our Yagna Ashram in Coimbatore so you can watch and take sankalpa wherever you are. Prasadam and an energised yantra are then couriered to your address, anywhere in the world, free of shipping cost.
