The Ritual and Its Weight

The Dumavati Homa is a fire rite offered to Dumavati Devi, the seventh of the ten Mahavidyas, worshipped as the goddess of smoke, dissolution and the moment just before something clears. Tradition turns to her when the difficulty has no name — when applications go unanswered, sanctions stay pending, a marriage talk keeps collapsing at the last step, or a venture that should have moved simply does not move. The homa does not fight the obstacle. It offers the obstruction itself into the fire.

Because she is invoked for what is hidden rather than what is visible, the Dumavati Homam has always been treated as a rite of exact procedure. The kunda is prepared with care, the sequence is unhurried, and the offerings follow the older tantric order. At our Yagna Ashram, priests perform it in your name and with your gotra and nakshatra, while you watch the fire from wherever you are. Nothing about the rite asks you to travel; it asks only your sankalpa.

धूं धूं धूमावती ठः ठः (Dhūṃ Dhūṃ Dhūmāvatī Ṭhaḥ Ṭhaḥ) With the seed sound of smoke, this mantra calls Dumavati Devi to be present and to dissolve whatever stands in the way, sealing the request with the closing syllables Thah Thah.

Why Devotees Book This

Devotees come to the Dumavati Homa when the block is real but unnamed. These are the intentions the tradition assigns to the rite.

Long-standing delays

Offered when work that should have concluded months ago is still waiting on someone else's signature or silence.

Repeated last-minute collapse

For matters that advance well and then fail at the final step, again and again, without visible cause.

Hidden opposition

Traditionally invoked where ill-will, gossip or quiet sabotage is felt around one's work or household.

Stalled ventures and paperwork

Sought for court matters, licences, property files, visas and negotiations that have gone still.

Clearing accumulated negativity

Dumavati is the Devi of dissolution; the rite is offered to burn away stagnation clinging to a place or a period of life.

Steadiness of mind while waiting

Devotees ask for clarity and composure so they can act rightly rather than anxiously while a situation unlocks.

Sacred Timing

Dumavati is a night-facing Devi, and her homa follows her own calendar. Our priests fix the muhurat against your birth details.

Dhumavati Jayanti

The Ashtami of the bright fortnight of Jyeshtha is held as the Devi's appearance day, the most sought date for this homa.

Ashtami and Chaturdashi tithis

Especially in Krishna paksha, these tithis are traditionally reserved for Mahavidya upasana and are favoured for the Dumavati Homam.

Saturdays

Saturday, linked to slowness and to the loosening of long-held karmic knots, is a customary weekday for the rite.

Amavasya and Navaratri nights

The dark-moon day and the nine nights of the Devi are taken up when the obstruction has persisted over years.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Dumavati Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Dumavati — the goddess of knowledge itself

Dumavati is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Dumavati Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Dumavati Homa is a Vedic-tantric fire ritual offered to Dumavati Devi, the smoke-hued goddess counted among the ten Mahavidyas. She presides over dissolution — the clearing away of what has outlived its time. The rite is therefore performed for obstruction removal: for delays, hurdles and stalled progress whose cause is not plainly visible. Offerings are made into the consecrated kunda with her mantra so that the blockage, rather than the person, is given to the fire.
Tradition prescribes the Dumavati Homam for relief from prolonged delays, for matters that keep failing at the final step, for hidden opposition and ill-will around one's work, and for clearing stagnation from a household or an undertaking. Devotees also offer it for steadiness of mind while a difficult situation resolves. Scripture describes these as the aims of the rite; the fruit of any homa rests with the Devi and with your own effort.
Anyone facing persistent obstruction may sponsor it — a professional whose file has been pending too long, a family whose property or court matter has not moved, a student or entrepreneur whose plans keep stalling. Because the Mahavidya upasana demands precise procedure, the rite itself should be performed by priests trained in it. At AstroBhava you are the sankalpa-karta: our priests perform the homa at our Yagna Ashram on your behalf, in your name, gotra and nakshatra.
Dhumavati Jayanti — Shukla Ashtami of Jyeshtha — is the foremost day. Ashtami and Chaturdashi of the dark fortnight, Saturdays, Amavasya and the Navaratri nights are also held auspicious. Our priests choose the muhurat after looking at your birth star and the tithi, so the rite falls on a window suited to your chart rather than a generic date.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and punyahavachanam, then take your sankalpa with your name, gotra and nakshatra. Agni is invoked in the kunda and kindled with samit wood. Dumavati Devi is installed and honoured with shodashopachara puja, after which the priests offer the prescribed count of ahutis with her mantra — ghee, black sesame, homa dravya, herbs, dried fruits and traditional samagri appropriate to her upasana. Purnahuti, arati, prayers for shanti and the distribution of prasadam close the rite. You watch the whole sequence on live telecast.
Book online from any country on this page. Send your name, gotra if you know it, birth star and your specific sankalpa. We confirm the muhurat, share your live-telecast link so you can watch the fire wherever you are, and courier the prasadam and an energised yantra to your address anywhere in the world, free of shipping cost. You need not travel or attend in person.
