Drishti Durga Homa

Also spelled Drishti Durga Homam

दृष्टि दुर्गा होम

When a stranger's glance, an envious word or an unseen working clings to your life, the Mother's fire is where it is cut away.

  • Performed for you alone — never a group ceremony
  • Muhurta fixed from your own birth chart, confirmed within 24–48 working hours
  • Free energised yantra, sealed in a silver amulet, shipped worldwide at no charge

The Ritual and Its Weight

Drishti means the look — the gaze that carries envy, resentment or ill will, whether it is cast knowingly or not. The tradition holds that such a gaze settles on a person, a child, a shop, a new house, and slowly turns things heavy: sleep breaks, plans stall, quarrels start over nothing. The Drishti Durga Homa is the fire rite prescribed for exactly this. Durga is invoked in her form as the remover of the harmful gaze, and every offering into the flame is a request that what has attached itself be burnt clean.

This homa is also turned to when the disturbance feels deliberate — abhichara, black magic, the unease of a place, the sense of being watched in the mind. The Agamas treat fire as the one element that does not carry impurity forward. What is placed in it is finished. Priests chant the Durga mantras, offer ghee, red flowers, guggulu and the prescribed dravyas, and complete the raksha for the person named in the sankalpa. You watch it happen live, from wherever you are.

सर्वाबाधाविनिर्मुक्तो धनधान्यसुतान्वितः। मनुष्यो मत्प्रसादेन भविष्यति न संशयः॥ By the Mother's grace a person is released from every affliction and obstruction, and is blessed with sustenance, grain and progeny — of this there is no doubt.

Why Devotees Book This

Devotees come to the Drishti Durga Homa for one reason above all — to be shielded. These are the intentions the tradition attaches to the rite.

Removal of drishti dosha

The core purpose of the drishti durga homam: to lift the effect of an envious or ill-meaning gaze from a person, a child or a household.

Protection from black magic

Where abhichara or deliberate harmful working is suspected, the Durga mantras are chanted as raksha and the residue offered into the fire.

Shielding the mind

Invoked against psychic disturbance — persistent fear, broken sleep, heaviness with no cause you can name.

Cleansing a place

Traditionally performed for a new home, a shop or a plot of land that has felt uneasy, so the space is entered under the Mother's guard.

Guarding children and new beginnings

Among the most cited durga homa benefits — infants, students, brides, new ventures, anything openly admired and thought to need covering.

Ongoing kavacha

The energised yantra couriered to you is kept as a continuing shield in the home or place of work after the fire is complete.

Sacred Timing

Drishti Durga is a Shakti rite, so the days sacred to the Mother carry it best. Our priests fix the muhurat against your sankalpa details.

Tuesday and Friday

The two weekdays traditionally given to Durga. Protection rites and raksha homas are most often set on these days.

Ashtami, Navami and Chaturdashi

The tithis associated with the fierce, guarding aspect of the Goddess — long held as strong for removing drishti and abhichara.

Navaratri and Ashada Navaratri

The nine nights of Shakti. Protection homas performed in this window are considered especially potent in the Agamic reckoning.

Bharani, Ashlesha and Moola nakshatras

Stars linked to Durga worship. Every nakshatra is workable; these are simply the ones the tradition prefers for this specific rite.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Drishti Durga Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Drishti Durga

Drishti Durga is the particular aspect of the goddess invoked where the harmful glance—drishti—is understood as a real force that can settle on a person, a child, or a household. She is not a separate deity invented in modern times but a specialised face of Durga recognised in domestic and temple practice across Tamil Nadu, Andhra, and parts of Karnataka, where the evil eye is treated as an affliction requiring a named counter-presence. In this form she is addressed as the one who intercepts and dissolves the concentrated envy or admiration that tradition holds can cling like an unseen residue. Her imagery often retains the lion and the weapons, yet the ritual focus narrows to the eyes: the gaze that wounds and the gaze that unbinds. She remains fully Durga, only oriented toward this single, intimate danger.

In this homa that grace is invoked through fire, with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Frequently asked

Yes. Durga is worshipped in countless homes across India as the household's guardian. Keep the image or picture facing east or north in a clean space, offer a lamp and water daily, and avoid keeping her in a bedroom, bathroom or storeroom. Red flowers and kumkum are traditional. The energised yantra we courier after your homa can be placed in the same puja space or near the main entrance as raksha.
The Drishti Durga Homa is a Vedic fire ritual addressed to Durga in her aspect that removes the harmful gaze. Drishti is the look that carries envy or ill will; its residue is said to settle on people, homes and enterprises and make them heavy. Its significance lies in the medium — fire consumes what is offered and does not pass it on. Priests chant the Durga mantras, make the prescribed offerings, and complete the protection for the person named in the sankalpa.
The durga homa benefits the tradition names for this rite are protective in nature: relief from drishti dosha, a shield against black magic and abhichara, calming of psychic disturbance and unexplained fear, cleansing of a new or uneasy home or workplace, and continuing kavacha for children and new beginnings. It is a prayer for protection made in the traditional way, not a promise of any particular outcome.
A qualified priest trained in Shakti upasana and Agamic homa procedure should perform it — the mantras, the fire discipline and the sequence of offerings all require that training. At AstroBhava, our priests perform the drishti durga homa at our Yagna Ashram on your behalf. You do not need to attend, travel or fast. Your name, birth star and gotra are taken into the sankalpa, and you watch the fire live.
Tuesdays and Fridays are the days traditionally given to Durga, and Ashtami, Navami and Chaturdashi tithis are favoured for protection rites. Navaratri is considered the strongest window of the year. The homa is generally begun in the morning hours after the sankalpa. Once you book, our priests set the muhurat and tell you the date and time so you can be present on the stream.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and the sankalpa in your name, birth star and gotra. Punyahavachanam and kalasha sthapana follow, then the agni is kindled in the kunda and the Navagraha offerings are made. Durga is invoked, the Durga mantras and protection stotras are chanted, and ahutis of ghee, red flowers, guggulu, samidha, honey and the prescribed dravyas are offered. Purnahuti, raksha bandhana and the energising of your yantra close the rite. Aarti and mantra pushpam are last. The samagri is arranged by the ashram — you do not need to send anything.
Book online from any country on this page. Give the names, birth stars and gotra of everyone to be included, and your intention if you wish it named. Our priests fix the muhurat and send you the live stream link before the homa begins. Afterwards, prasadam from the fire and the energised yantra are couriered to your address anywhere in the world, free of shipping cost.
