The Ritual and Its Weight

The Soolini Homa is a protective fire rite addressed to Soolini Durga, the form of the Mother who carries the shoola — the trident. Tradition treats her as a guardian at the boundary: what tries to enter a home, a body or a mind without permission meets her weapon first. Priests kindle the fire, invoke her with her mantra, and offer ghee, herbs and specific dravyas into the flame while your name and nakshatra are pronounced in the sankalpa.

Devotees turn to shoolini homam when life feels obstructed in ways no calendar or ledger explains — sudden discord at home, work that unravels for no visible reason, the sense of being watched or drained, an infant who will not settle, the fear of drishti or abhichara. The tradition does not ask you to prove the cause. It prescribes fire, mantra and the Mother's presence, and it asks you to sit with a steady mind while the offerings are made. The soolini homa is performed for that steadying, and for the shield the ancients placed around a household.

Why Devotees Book This

Shoolini homam benefits are described in the tradition as protective rather than acquisitive — a boundary drawn, not a boon demanded. Devotees book the soolini homa for these reasons.

Shelter from drishti

Performed traditionally to dissolve the effects of the evil eye — the casual glance of envy that the elders warned about.

Against abhichara

Prescribed when black magic, cast spells or deliberate ill-will are feared to be working against a person or family.

Guarding the mind

Sought for relief from psychic disturbance — restless sleep, unexplained dread, the feeling of being drained in your own home.

Cleansing a dwelling

Households book this rite when a home or new premises feels heavy, and they wish the space consecrated before settling in.

Steadiness against hostility

Also invoked where opposition and ill-intent surround work or litigation, that you may stand without agitation.

Protection for children

Parents request the soolini homa for infants and young children, in the old custom of drawing a guardian circle around the small ones.

Sacred Timing

Protective rites are set at hours when the Mother's fierce aspect is traditionally invoked. Our priests fix the muhurat against your birth star and the running panchanga.

Ashtami and Navami tithi

The eighth and ninth lunar days belong to Durga. These are classic tithis for shoolini homam, especially in the waxing fortnight.

Tuesdays and Fridays

Mangalavara for the fierce guardian aspect, Shukravara for the Mother's grace. Both are long-favoured for protective homas.

Navaratri

The nine nights, and Durgashtami above all, are held to be the most potent window in the year for invoking Soolini Durga.

Rahu kala on an auspicious day

In several southern traditions the protective invocation is deliberately placed in this window, under the priest's judgement.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Soolini Durga Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Soolini Durga — the goddess of knowledge itself

Soolini Durga is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Soolini Durga Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Soolini Homa is a Vedic fire ritual offered to Soolini Durga, the Mother who bears the trident and stands as guardian of thresholds. Its significance lies in protection: the rite is prescribed in the tradition to shield a person, a family or a dwelling from negative energy, the evil eye, cast spells and unseen psychic harm. Priests raise the fire, pronounce your sankalpa with your name, gotra and nakshatra, and offer ghee and herbal dravyas while the Soolini mantra is chanted through the prescribed count.
The shoolini homam benefits described in the tradition are protective. It is performed for relief from drishti and envy, against the effects of abhichara or black magic, for calm where the mind feels disturbed or drained, for the cleansing of a home or new premises, and for steadiness where hostility surrounds your work. Some devotees pair it with a pavamana homa for general purification; the pavamana homa benefits are cleansing in nature, while the Soolini rite is specifically a shield. No rite is a guarantee of any outcome — it is an offering made with faith, in the manner the shastra prescribes.
Anyone who feels the need for protection may have it performed on their behalf — individuals, married couples, families, and business owners. It is commonly requested when there is persistent unexplained obstruction, fear of evil eye or black magic, disturbance in a home, or hostility from known quarters. Astrologers also recommend it during difficult planetary periods. You do not perform it yourself: qualified priests conduct it for you at our Yagna Ashram, and you take part by watching the live telecast and holding your intention.
Ashtami and Navami tithis, Tuesdays and Fridays, and the nine nights of Navaratri are the traditional windows. Durgashtami is considered especially potent. Where the situation is urgent, the rite need not wait for a festival — our priests will fix a suitable muhurat from the running panchanga and your birth star, and confirm the date and time with you before the homa.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and punyahavachana to purify the space, then the sankalpa in your name. Agni is invoked in the kunda and the Soolini Durga yantra is established and worshipped. The prescribed count of the Soolini mantra is chanted with ahutis of cow ghee, samidha of the specified woods, protective herbs, mustard, salt, dry coconut, navadhanya and other traditional dravyas. Purnahuti closes the fire, followed by rakshabandhana of the sanctified ash, aarti and prarthana. Vibhuti, kumkum and the energised yantra are then packed for courier to you. All samagri is arranged by us; you send only your name, gotra and nakshatra.
Book online from any country on this page. Give your name, gotra or family name, birth star and your sankalpa. Our team confirms the muhurat and sends you the live telecast link, so you can watch the soolini homa as it is performed at our Yagna Ashram in Coimbatore. Afterwards, prasadam and the energised yantra are couriered to your address worldwide at no extra cost.
