Also spelled Skandamata Homam
स्कन्दमाता होमThe mother who holds Skanda on her lap. Devotees who long for a child turn to her fire, and priests carry that prayer for you.
The Skandamata Homa is a fire offering to the fifth form of Navadurga — the Goddess seated on a lotus with the infant Skanda held in her lap. She is worshipped not as a distant power but as motherhood itself, the force that receives a soul and shelters it. For this reason the tradition places her homa among the progeny rites: couples praying to conceive, mothers carrying a child, and families seeking blessings for the generation to come all light this fire.
In the Skandamata Homam, ghee, herbs and grains are offered into the consecrated kunda while her mantra is chanted through prescribed rounds. Fire is the mouth that carries an offering upward; the sankalpa spoken in your name, gotra and nakshatra is what it carries. You do not need to travel. Our priests perform the rite at AstroBhava's Yagna Ashram on your behalf, telecast it to you live, and courier the prasadam and energised yantra to your door.
सिंहासनगता नित्यं पद्माश्रितकरद्वया। शुभदास्तु सदा देवी स्कन्दमाता यशस्विनी॥ May the ever-glorious Skandamata, seated on her lion with lotuses held in two of her hands, always be the giver of what is auspicious. The tradition prescribes the Skandamata Homa for these prayers. Offer it with faith; the fruit rests with the Goddess.
Couples hoping to conceive offer this homa to place their longing before the mother of Skanda.
Families invoke her shelter through the months of carrying, seeking a calm and safe term for mother and child.
The rite asks for strength, health and good character in the child to come, as Skanda himself was raised in her lap.
Worship of Skandamata is traditionally taken up for steadiness and courage during a time that is heavy with waiting.
The homa is offered for warmth and accord between husband, wife and elders as the family prepares for a child.
Where astrologers point to afflictions in the fifth house or santana-related doshas, this fire is the prescribed remedial offering.

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.
