The Ritual and Its Weight

Shukra is the graha of love, beauty, comfort, vehicles, artistry and the marriage bond. When Venus sits well, life has ease in it — food tastes better, relationships hold, work made with the hands finds admirers. When Shukra is debilitated, combust, hemmed between malefics or running an unhelpful dasha, that ease thins. Astrologers read it in strained partnerships, restlessness about pleasure, and a persistent sense that what should be enjoyable has turned effortful. The Shukra Homa is the classical response: not a plea for luxury, but a request that this graha be settled and gracious again.

The shukra shanti homam follows the Navagraha tradition. Fire is kindled, the planet's presiding deity is invited by name, and the offerings prescribed for Venus — white items, ghee, curd, sugar, and the samidha of the audumbara wood — are given into the flame with his mantra. Priests at our Yagna Ashram perform this shukra puja on your behalf, taking your name, gotra and birth star into the sankalpa. You watch the fire live from wherever you are. The prasadam and the energised yantra reach you by courier afterwards.

ॐ हिमकुन्दमृणालाभं दैत्यानां परमं गुरुम्। सर्वशास्त्रप्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणमाम्यहम्॥ I bow to Bhargava (Shukra), radiant as snow, jasmine and the lotus stem, supreme preceptor of the daityas and expounder of all the scriptures.

Why Devotees Book This

The shukra homam benefits described in the shastras all follow one thread — an afflicted Venus is pacified, and the graha's natural sweetness is invited to work freely again.

Pacifying an afflicted Shukra

Prescribed when Venus is debilitated, combust, retrograde in an unhelpful house, or afflicted by aspect — the rite is the traditional remedy offered for these placements.

Harmony in marriage and partnership

Venus governs the spouse and the bond. Devotees carrying friction, delay or distance in marriage undertake this homa seeking gentleness in that house of life.

Ease during Shukra dasha and bhukti

Those entering a Venus mahadasha or antardasha book the shukra shanti homam so the period unfolds with the graha's benefic face turned toward them.

Grace in art, music and craft

Shukra is the patron of every refined art. Dancers, singers, designers and artisans offer homahuti to Shukra before recitals, releases and long creative seasons.

Comfort, vehicles and the good things of home

Venus rules conveyances, ornaments and domestic ease. The rite is undertaken when these areas feel obstructed or unsettled.

Steadiness in desire and discernment

An unquiet Venus scatters attention across pleasures. Tradition holds that its pacification brings clarity about what is truly worth wanting.

Sacred Timing

Shukra's own day is Friday, and the rite is scheduled to a muhurat drawn from your chart. These are the windows priests favour.

Friday (Shukravara)

The weekday ruled by Venus. Morning hours on a Friday, in the graha's own hora, are the first choice for the shukra homam.

Bharani, Purva Phalguni, Purvashadha

The three nakshatras owned by Shukra. A homa set on one of these stars is considered to reach the deity most directly.

Shukla Paksha and Shukra transits

The waxing fortnight is preferred. Priests also time the rite to Venus changing sign, returning from retrogression, or emerging from combustion.

Before a Shukra dasha or a marriage

Devotees book ahead of a Venus mahadasha, an engagement, or a wedding, so the period begins with the graha propitiated.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Shukra Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Shukra — the goddess of knowledge itself

Shukra is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Shukra Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

Classical texts hold Shukra as strong in the 4th house, where it governs home, comfort and vehicles, and it is considered digbala — directionally powerful — there. Venus is also well placed in the 1st, 2nd, 7th and 12th, and is exalted in Pisces, its own signs being Taurus and Libra. That said, no house is simply good or bad on its own. Aspects, dasha and the chart as a whole decide. If Venus sits in a house where it struggles for you, the Shukra Homa is the remedy tradition offers.
The Shukra Homa is a Navagraha fire ritual addressed to Venus, the graha of love, beauty, comfort and the marriage bond. Priests kindle the sacred fire, invoke Shukra by his mantra, and offer the substances the shastras assign to him. Its significance lies in shanti — settling a planet that has been afflicted in your chart, so that its benefic qualities of harmony, refinement and ease can express themselves without obstruction.
The shukra homam benefits named in tradition include the pacification of an afflicted Venus, harmony in marriage and partnerships, support during Shukra dasha, grace in the arts, and ease in matters of home, vehicles and comfort. The rite is performed as a prayer and an offering. It is not a guarantee of any particular outcome — what it does is place your intention formally before the deity through fire.
The homa itself is performed by qualified priests on your behalf. It is commonly recommended for those with Venus debilitated, combust or afflicted in the birth chart, those running a Shukra dasha or bhukti, couples seeking harmony in marriage, and artists, performers and designers whose livelihood rests on Venusian gifts. Anyone may book it — you do not need an astrologer's referral, though many devotees come after a reading.
Friday morning, in Shukra's hora, is the classical choice. Nakshatras ruled by Venus — Bharani, Purva Phalguni and Purvashadha — are especially favoured, as is the Shukla Paksha. Our priests fix the exact muhurat against your birth details and the current transits, and confirm the date and time with you before the rite.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and a sankalpa taken in your name, gotra and nakshatra. Kalasha sthapana and the invocation of Shukra follow. Agni is kindled in the kunda, and homahuti to Shukra is offered with his mantra — ghee, white flowers, curd, sugar, rice, and audumbara samidha, along with the navagraha offerings. The rite closes with purnahuti, aarti and prayers for shanti. A shukra puja and prayer for your specific concern are included in the sankalpa.
