The Ritual and Its Weight

The Sammohana Gopala Homa is a fire rite addressed to Krishna in his infant form — Bala Gopala, the enchanting cowherd child. In the progeny tradition, the logic is simple and tender: you worship the divine as a child so that the grace of childhood may enter your home. Ghee, sesame, milk-soaked grains and tulsi are offered into the fire while the Gopala mantra is chanted, each oblation carrying the couple's sankalpa toward the deity.

Families have turned to this homam at the point where medicine, patience and prayer meet — after long waiting, before a planned pregnancy, or in the early months when a mother wants the child in her womb held in divine care. The rite does not replace anything you are already doing. It places your longing in the fire, in front of witnesses of the tradition, and asks Gopala to look kindly on your line. That is why the sammohana gopala homam is performed with such care over the sankalpa, and why the couple's names, gotra and nakshatra are spoken aloud before the first offering.

क्लीं कृष्णाय गोविन्दाय गोपीजनवल्लभाय स्वाहा To Krishna the cowherd, beloved of the people of Vraja, this offering is made — may he who enchants all hearts turn his grace toward us.

Why Devotees Book This

Couples come to the sammohana gopala homa with one prayer, held in many forms. These are the intentions the tradition assigns to this rite.

Prayers for conception

The central sankalpa of the homa is santana prapti — the grace of a child. Both partners' names and nakshatras are offered in the fire.

Care through pregnancy

Expecting mothers book it as a prayer for a peaceful, protected term and a safe delivery, in the way the tradition prescribes.

Blessings on the child to come

Gopala is invoked for a child of good health, sweet nature and long life — the qualities the cowherd boy himself embodies.

Steadiness for the couple

Waiting is heavy. The rite gives the couple a shared act of faith, a fixed day, and a fire to place the weight into.

Relief sought for progeny-related afflictions

Where a chart shows affliction to the fifth house or to Jupiter, this homa is among the traditional remedial rites advised for progeny.

Grace for the family line

Offerings are made for the continuity of the lineage and for the wellbeing of children already born into the family.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Sammohana Gopala Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Sammohana Gopala — the goddess of knowledge itself

Sammohana Gopala is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Sammohana Gopala Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

It is a Vedic fire ritual dedicated to Sammohana Gopala — Krishna as the enchanting cowherd child. Ghee, sesame, grains and tulsi are offered into the consecrated fire while the Gopala mantra is chanted with the couple's sankalpa. In the progeny tradition, worshipping the divine in child form is the prescribed way to pray for a child of one's own, for a safe term of pregnancy, and for the wellbeing of the family line.
The tradition prescribes the sammohana gopala homam for santana prapti — prayers for conception; for a peaceful and protected pregnancy; for the health, nature and longevity of the child to come; and for relief sought where a horoscope shows affliction to the fifth house or to Jupiter. It is also taken up simply as a shared act of faith by couples in a long wait. The homa is a prayer offered in the traditional manner, not a guarantee of any outcome.
Couples praying to conceive, expectant mothers seeking blessings for a safe term, and families praying for the wellbeing of children already born. Astrologers often advise it when the fifth house, its lord, or Jupiter is under stress in a chart. At AstroBhava you do not perform it yourself — qualified priests perform it at our Yagna Ashram on your behalf, in your name, gotra and nakshatra.
Rohini nakshatra and Ashtami tithi are foremost, being Krishna's own star and lunar day. Janmashtami is the most auspicious date in the year. Wednesdays and Shukla Paksha days are widely chosen, as are Punarvasu, Pushya and Shravana when the prayer centres on a healthy pregnancy. When you book, our panchanga scholars fix the nearest suitable muhurat and confirm it with you.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and punyahavachanam, then take the sankalpa in your name, gotra and nakshatra. Agni is invoked in the kunda, and the Gopala mantra is chanted with oblations of cow ghee, sesame, rice, milk-soaked grains, tulsi, flowers and traditional samidha. Purnahuti and arati close the rite, followed by prayers for the couple. All samagri is arranged by us — you need send nothing.
Book online from any country on this page. Give the names, gotra and birth stars of both partners along with your sankalpa. We confirm the muhurat, perform the sammohana gopala homa at our Yagna Ashram and telecast it live to you wherever you are.
