Rohini Nakshatra Homa

Also spelled Rohini Nakshatra Homam

रोहिणी नक्षत्र होम

Rohini is the star of growth and nourishment. This fire rite honours your birth star and asks for its shelter over your years.

  • Performed for you alone — never a group ceremony
  • Muhurta fixed from your own birth chart, confirmed within 24–48 working hours
  • Free energised yantra, sealed in a silver amulet, shipped worldwide at no charge

The Ritual and Its Weight

Rohini is the fourth nakshatra, the red star Aldebaran, ruled by Chandra and presided over by Brahma the creator. The tradition calls Rohini the most beloved of the Moon's consorts — the star of fertile soil, of milk and grain, of things that ripen when tended. If Rohini is your janma nakshatra, its rhythm runs quietly beneath your temperament, your appetites and your seasons of increase and pause.

The Rohini Nakshatra Homa is the rite by which you turn and greet that star directly. Priests kindle the fire, name your nakshatra and gotra, and offer ghee and specified samidha into the flame with the mantras of Brahma and Chandra. It is performed on your birth-star day, on birthdays, before a new beginning, or when the Moon's periods run heavy in your chart. The purpose is alignment — to place your life in accord with the star it was born under, and to ask that star for protection and a steady, honest prosperity.

Salutations to Brahma, lord of creation, who was born first, before all, and who shone forth from the boundless light, revealing the origin of what exists and what is yet unborn — to Rohini, salutations.

Why Devotees Book This

The tradition prescribes the Rohini Nakshatra Homam for those who wish to stand rightly with their birth star.

Birth-star alignment

Performed on Rohini day with your name, gotra and nakshatra, so the offerings are made in your name to the star you were born under.

Protection through the year

Sought as a shield over the coming year, especially when Rohini's lord Chandra is transiting or running in dasha.

Steady growth

Rohini is the star of ripening. Devotees offer here when they want increase that lasts rather than a sudden surge.

Peace of mind

The Moon governs the mind. Families book this rite for calm, sleep and emotional steadiness in Rohini-born members.

Household and family harmony

Traditionally invoked for domestic wellbeing, nourishment and accord under one roof.

Before a new undertaking

Offered before a marriage, a house-warming, a new venture or a child's naming, to begin under a favourable star.

The star's own transit each lunar month is the first choice. The homa is most complete when the Moon stands in Rohini.

Your birthday by nakshatra

The Rohini day of your birth month, counted by the traditional almanac rather than the calendar date.

Purnima and Monday

Full-moon days and Mondays belong to Chandra, lord of Rohini, and strengthen the offering.

Ahead of a wedding, a move, a naming ceremony or a new venture, timed to the nearest Rohini muhurat.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Brahma Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Brahma — the goddess of knowledge itself

Brahma is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Brahma Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Rohini Nakshatra Homa is a Vedic fire ritual dedicated to Rohini, the fourth nakshatra, ruled by Chandra and presided over by Brahma. Rohini is the star of nourishment, fertility and ripening growth. The homa is performed for those born under Rohini, or for anyone under a strong Chandra period, to honour the birth star and seek its protection and prosperity. Priests offer ghee, samidha and grain into the fire with Brahma and Chandra mantras, naming your nakshatra and gotra.
The tradition prescribes this rite for birth-star alignment, protection through the year, calmness of mind, family harmony and steady rather than sudden growth. Devotees also book it before a marriage, a house-warming, a naming ceremony or a new venture, so that the beginning is made under a favourable star. It is an act of devotion and alignment, not a guarantee of any particular outcome.
Anyone whose janma nakshatra is Rohini, and parents on behalf of a Rohini-born child. It is also taken up by those running a Chandra dasha or bhukti, those with an afflicted Moon in the chart, and families marking a birthday by nakshatra. You may sponsor it for a spouse, parent, child or anyone in your household — simply give their birth details when you book.
The Moon's monthly transit through Rohini is the primary muhurat. Mondays and Purnima, both belonging to Chandra, are also favoured, as is the Rohini day falling in your birth month. When you book, our priests read your birth details and fix the nearest suitable muhurat, then confirm the date and time to you before the rite.
The priests begin with achamana, sankalpa in your name, gotra and nakshatra, and Ganapati puja to clear obstacles. Punyahavachanam and kalasha sthapana follow. Agni is invoked in the kunda, and the Brahma and Chandra mantras along with the Rohini nakshatra sukta are offered with ghee. Samagri includes cow ghee, jaggery, milk-rice, white flowers, durva, and the samidha prescribed for Rohini, chiefly jambu wood. The rite closes with purnahuti, aarti and prasadam distribution.
