The Ritual and Its Weight

The Kamakhya Homa is a fire rite addressed to Kamakhya, the Mother worshipped in the Shakta tradition as the source of desire, creation and fierce protection. Where ordinary worship offers flowers, this rite offers fire. Ghee, red flowers, sesame and herbs are given into the kunda while her mantra is chanted with sankalpa taken in your name, your gotra and your nakshatra. The tradition turns to her when something feels wrong and cannot be named — a house that has grown heavy, work that keeps unravelling, a body that tires without cause, the sense of being watched or wished ill.

Shakta texts place Kamakhya among the most guarded of the Mother's forms, approached with discipline and a clean heart. The homa is prescribed as a shield: for drishti dosha and the evil eye, for the effects of abhichara or black magic, for psychic disturbance and for the residue of ill will. It does not attack anyone. It draws a boundary of fire around the devotee and asks the Mother to stand at it. At AstroBhava, the kamakhya puja and homam are performed at our Yagna Ashram in Coimbatore on your behalf, and telecast live so you can sit with the fire from wherever you are.

ॐ कामाख्यै च विद्महे कामेश्वर्यै च धीमहि । तन्नो देवी प्रचोदयात् ॥ May we know Kamakhya, may we meditate upon the Sovereign of Desire; may that Goddess illumine and guide us.

Why Devotees Book This

The Kamakhya homam is turned to when unseen influence is suspected. Here is what the tradition prescribes it for.

A shield against the evil eye

Prescribed for drishti dosha — the heaviness that follows envy, praise or a hard look cast your way.

Relief from abhichara

Traditionally offered where black magic or deliberate ill-intent is suspected against a person, a family or a home.

Quieting psychic disturbance

Sought for restless sleep, unexplained fear, and the feeling of a presence that will not leave a room.

Cleansing a home or workplace

Offered when a space has grown heavy, when quarrels repeat and nothing prospers under that roof.

Steadiness of mind

Devotees ask the Mother for a settled mind and clear judgement when they are being pulled in many directions.

Protection for the family

Sankalpa can be taken for children, parents and the household together, placing all of them under one boundary of fire.

Ashtami and Navami tithi

The eighth and ninth lunar days are classically held for Shakti worship and are a preferred setting for this homa.

Amavasya and Tuesday or Friday

The new moon and the Mother's weekdays are chosen for rites of protection and clearing of negative influence.

Navaratri

Both the Chaitra and Sharada Navaratris carry the fullest strength for any Kamakhya puja or homam.

Ambubachi and Magha Gupta Navaratri

The Ambubachi period and the secret Gupta Navaratris are traditionally reserved for the more guarded Shakta invocations.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Kamakhya Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Kamakhya — the goddess of knowledge itself

Kamakhya is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Kamakhya Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Kamakhya Temple at Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam, is an active shrine and generally open to devotees daily, though timings, queue arrangements and closures during the Ambubachi Mela change from year to year — check with the temple administration before travelling. AstroBhava is not that temple and has no branch or walk-in premises anywhere. We perform the Kamakhya Homa at our own Yagna Ashram in Coimbatore, on your behalf, and stream it to you.
Kamakhya Temple is one of the most revered Shakta shrines in India, situated on Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam. It is counted among the Shakti Peethas and is famous for its yoni-form sanctum, worshipped as the seat of the Mother's creative power. Pilgrims go there for protection, fulfilment of desire and relief from occult affliction — the same purposes the kamakhya temple homam tradition carries into the fire ritual.
The Kamakhya Homa is a Vedic-Tantric fire offering to Goddess Kamakhya, the Mother of desire and of fierce protection. Its significance lies in its use as a shield. Sankalpa is taken in the devotee's name, her mantra is chanted through the offerings, and the rite is prescribed for drishti dosha, abhichara, psychic disturbance and the general heaviness of negative energy around a person or a home.
Tradition prescribes this homa for protection from the evil eye and from ill-intent, for cleansing a home or workplace that has grown heavy, for calm sleep and a settled mind, and for placing an entire family under one act of protection. The homa is an offering, not a transaction — what is assured is that the rite is performed correctly, with your sankalpa, by qualified priests.
Anyone who suspects negative influence around them — recurring obstacles with no clear cause, a home where quarrels repeat, unexplained unease, or a reading that indicates drishti dosha or abhichara. Families book it for a household, and business owners for a workplace. You need not attend or fast; qualified priests perform it on your behalf at our Yagna Ashram while you watch the live telecast.
Ashtami and Navami tithis, Amavasya, and Tuesdays and Fridays are the classical choices. Navaratri — Chaitra, Sharada and the Gupta Navaratris — and the Ambubachi period carry the greatest strength for Kamakhya worship. When you book, our panchanga desk fixes the muhurat against your birth details and confirms the date and time with you.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati pujan and punyahavachana, then take sankalpa in your name, gotra and nakshatra. A kalasha is established and Kamakhya invoked with her dhyana and mantra. Agni is kindled in the kunda and the mantra japa is completed with ahutis of ghee, red flowers, sesame, rice, navadhanya and prescribed herbs and samidha. Purnahuti follows, then rakshabandhana, aarti and Mother's prasadam. Prasadam and an energised yantra are couriered to you worldwide, free.
Book online from any country on this page. Enter the name, gotra, birth star and the sankalpa you wish taken. We confirm the muhurat, send you the live telecast link before the homa begins, and courier your prasadam and energised yantra afterwards at no extra charge. Kamakhya homam cost and kamakhya puja cost are shown for your country in the package panel on this page.
