Also spelled Tripura Sundari Homam
त्रिपुरसुन्दरी होमThe Divine Mother of the three cities, invoked in fire for you — for devotion that steadies, and a mind that finally rests.
The Tripura Sundari Homa is a fire offering to Lalita Tripura Sundari, the presiding Devi of the Sri Vidya tradition. She is called Tripura — she who dwells in the three cities: waking, dream and deep sleep; body, speech and mind; the three worlds within you. To offer into her fire is to offer those three states back to their source. Ghee, lotus, red flowers and sweet grain go into the kunda while her mantra is repeated, and the Sri Chakra is worshipped as her seat.
Sri Vidya is a demanding lineage. Its rites are not casual, and most householders have neither the initiation nor the hours a full upasana asks for. This is why the homam exists in this form — qualified priests carry the procedure on your behalf, with the sankalpa spoken in your name, gotra and nakshatra. Devotees turn to the tripura sundari homa when practice has gone dry, when the mind will not settle, or when they simply want to place their devotion in the hands of the Mother and let her order it.
ॐ ऐं ह्रीं श्रीं त्रिपुरसुन्दर्यै नमः I bow to Tripura Sundari, the beautiful Mother of the three worlds — may her wisdom, grace and abundance take root in me.Tradition prescribes the Tripura Sundari Homam for those walking the inward path. Here is what the rite is offered for.
The homa is performed to keep bhakti alive when practice feels mechanical, and to return warmth to a sadhana that has cooled.
Her mantra is chanted for the settling of a restless mind — the tradition speaks of stillness in the three states she governs.
Offered to place yourself under Lalita's protection, as a child places itself before its mother, without argument.
Sri Vidya associates the Devi with discerning wisdom. The rite is done seeking clear sight where confusion has settled.
Families commission this homam for gentleness between members, and for an atmosphere in the house that feels lighter.
Tripura Sundari is invoked in the tradition as the source of shree — beauty, dignity and honest sufficiency in daily life.

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.
