The Ritual and Its Weight

The Rama Homa is a fire offering made to Sri Rama, Maryada Purushottama — the one who held to dharma when it cost him everything. Ghee, sacred woods and offerings are given into the consecrated fire while the priests chant the Rama mantras and verses drawn from the Ramayana tradition. Each oblation is sent with the name that sages say needs no other support. The name itself is the rite.

Devotees turn to the rama homam when the inner life feels scattered — when faith has gone thin, when the mind will not settle, when a household needs a centre to hold to. Tradition prescribes it for bhakti, for steadiness of conduct, and for the grace that follows those who walk straight. It is also honoured as a rite for standing firm against hostility, in the way Rama stood. But its heart is devotion, and that is how we offer it for you.

श्रीराम राम रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे। सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं रामनाम वरानने॥ Shiva tells Parvati that he delights in the beautiful name of Rama, and that this single name equals the thousand names of Vishnu in power and merit.

Why Devotees Book This

Devotees come to the Rama Homa for what the tradition places in Sri Rama's hands — the steadying of the inner life and the grace that attends dharma.

Deepening of Bhakti

Offered to kindle steady devotion, so that remembrance of the Lord becomes natural rather than effortful.

Inner Peace

The Rama nama is chanted through every oblation, and devotees seek it for a mind that grows quieter and less restless.

Strength in Dharma

Invoked for clarity in doing the right thing when the right thing is hard, in the manner Rama himself is remembered for.

Harmony at Home

Sought by families for accord between husband and wife, parents and children, brother and brother — the bonds the Ramayana holds sacred.

Courage Before Opposition

Traditionally offered by those facing hostility or obstruction, asking for the composure to meet it without losing their conduct.

Divine Grace and Refuge

The rite is a formal act of sharanagati — placing yourself and your household under Sri Rama's protection.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Rama Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Rama — the goddess of knowledge itself

Rama is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Rama Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Rama Homa is a Vedic fire ritual offered to Sri Rama, the seventh avatara of Vishnu and the model of dharmic conduct. Priests build the consecrated fire, invoke Rama with his mula mantra and verses from the Ramayana tradition, and make oblations of ghee and sacred substances. Its significance rests on the Rama nama itself — a name the scriptures place equal to the thousand names of Vishnu. The homa is performed for devotion, inner steadiness, and refuge in the Lord.
Tradition prescribes the rama homam for the deepening of bhakti, for peace of mind, for harmony within the family, and for firmness in dharma when circumstances make it difficult. It is also offered by those facing opposition or ill will, asking for composure and protection. The rite is an act of surrender and devotion; the fruit is left to Sri Rama's grace.
Anyone drawn to Sri Rama may have this homa offered — there is no restriction of birth star, gotra or lineage. It is commonly sponsored by devotees seeking a stronger inner life, by families wanting accord under one roof, by those beginning a path of sadhana, and by people meeting hostility who wish to answer it with steadiness rather than anger. You may also sponsor it in the name of a parent, spouse or child.
Sri Rama Navami in Chaitra is the foremost day. Punarvasu nakshatra, Rama's birth star, is chosen each month. Wednesdays, Ekadashi and Vijayadashami are also favoured. Our priests fix the sankalpa muhurat using your name, nakshatra and gotra, and confirm the date and time to you before the homa is performed.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and punyahavachana, then take the sankalpa in your name, nakshatra and gotra. The kalasha is established and Sri Rama invoked with Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman. Agni is kindled in the kunda and consecrated. Oblations follow with the Rama mantras — ghee, havis, sesame, sacred woods including palasha, dry fruits and flowers. Rama nama japa and Ramayana verses are chanted through the offerings. The rite closes with purnahuti, arati, prasanna puja and blessings pronounced in your name.
