The Ritual and Its Weight

The Narayana Sukta comes to us from the Taittiriya Aranyaka, chanted for millennia as the hymn that names the Supreme as everywhere at once — a thousand heads, eyes in all directions, the universe itself. When these verses are offered into consecrated fire, each line is sealed with ghee and svaha. The Narayana Sukta Homa is not a petition for one small thing. It is a turning of the whole life towards Narayana.

Because it is offered at the Maha tier, the recitation is unhurried and complete, with the full sequence of avahana, arghya, ahuti and purnahuti. Devotees come to this homa when the outer life is arranged but the inner one feels dry — when sadhana has stalled, when the mind will not settle, when they want their household placed under the protection of the Lord who is called Antaryami, the indweller. Tradition prescribes it for bhakti, for viveka, and for the quiet grace that follows both.

ॐ सहस्रशीर्षं देवं विश्वाक्षं विश्वशम्भुवम् । विश्वं नारायणं देवमक्षरं परमं प्रभुम् ॥ We invoke the Lord of a thousand heads, whose eyes are everywhere and who is the well-being of all — Narayana, who is the whole universe, imperishable, the supreme sovereign.

Why Devotees Book This

What the tradition prescribes the Narayana Sukta Homam for — offered by priests on your behalf, watched live by you.

Devotion that steadies

The Sukta is chanted to ripen bhakti from a mood into a habit — a mind that returns to the Lord on its own.

Inner quiet

Devotees offer this homa when thought is noisy and prayer feels mechanical, seeking stillness before the fire.

Sadhana that moves again

Traditionally offered to clear obstructions in japa, study and meditation, and to renew a practice that has gone flat.

Grace for the household

The verses place home and family under the sheltering presence of Narayana, the indweller of all beings.

Purification of intent

Ghee offerings on each line of the Sukta are held to burn away accumulated heaviness of speech, thought and deed.

A remembrance you keep

Prasadam and an energised yantra reach you after the rite, so the sankalpa continues in your puja space.

What a Maha Homa is

Not every fire ritual is performed at the same scale. A Maha Homa is our largest form — more priests, a longer fire, and the complete chanting sequence the rite prescribes rather than an abridged one. This is what that means in practice.

Priests5 or 10Chanting in unison, never in rotation
The fire burnsApprox. 2 hoursFrom the sankalpa to the final aarti
ChantedIn fullThe complete sequence the rite calls for, not an excerpt
TelecastEvery minuteNothing is performed off camera

A Maha Homa is performed for one devotee and their named family, the same as any homa we conduct. What the scale changes is the weight of the offering — ten trained voices holding one hymn for two hours is a different undertaking from one voice for an hour, and it is reserved for the intentions that warrant it.

Sacred Timing

Vaishnava practice sets aside particular days for the Narayana Sukta Homa. Our priests fix the muhurat and tell you the hour before the fire is lit.

Ekadashi and Dwadashi

The two days most sacred to Vishnu. Sukta recitation into fire on Ekadashi is a long-held preference, and Dwadashi carries the fruit forward.

Shravana nakshatra

The birth star associated with Vishnu, considered especially fitting for Narayana Sukta homam and for renewing bhakti sankalpas.

Thursday, and Vaikuntha Ekadashi

Guruvara suits rites of devotion and wisdom. Vaikuntha Ekadashi is the year's most sought-after date for this homa.

Purattasi / Bhadrapada month and your janma nakshatra

The Vishnu month is auspicious throughout; many devotees also choose their own birth star for an annual offering.

What you receive

The sealing of the yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request a private, unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Narayana Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

48-Day Anushthan (optional)

Daily temple worship for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily rituals of the 48-day Anushthan are performed with full devotion but are not telecast.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Who is invoked

Narayana — the goddess of knowledge itself

Narayana is one of the Tridevi and the mother of the Vedas — the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, memory, speech, music and every art. She is depicted in white upon a white lotus, holding the veena, a book, a rosary and a water pot, with the swan of discernment beside her.

In this homa, her grace — Narayana Kataksham — is invoked through fire with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

It is a fire ritual built around the Narayana Sukta of the Taittiriya Aranyaka, the hymn that declares Narayana to be the imperishable Supreme, present in every direction and in every heart. Each verse is chanted and offered into the fire with ghee. Its significance is scale: rather than asking for one outcome, the Narayana Sukta Homa consecrates the devotee's whole life and household to the Lord, which is why it belongs to the Spiritual Growth and Devotion group of rites and is offered here at the Maha tier.
Tradition prescribes it for deepening bhakti, for inner peace when the mind will not settle, for renewed momentum in japa and meditation, for purification of thought and speech, and for the sheltering grace of Narayana over the family. These are the purposes the shastra assigns the rite. Results are always the Lord's to give; what you can count on from us is that the homa is performed correctly, completely and in your name.
Any devotee drawn to Vishnu may sponsor it — there is no restriction of gotra, tradition or country. It is commonly chosen by those beginning or reviving a spiritual practice, by families marking a birth star or wedding anniversary, by seekers who want their sadhana strengthened, and by householders who wish to place a new home under Narayana's protection. The chanting and the offerings themselves are done by our qualified priests on your behalf; you need only give your name, nakshatra and sankalpa.
Ekadashi and Dwadashi, Shravana nakshatra, Thursdays, and the Vishnu month of Purattasi or Bhadrapada are the classic windows, with Vaikuntha Ekadashi the most sought-after date of the year. Many devotees also choose their own janma nakshatra. When you book, our priests examine the panchanga and your birth details, fix a suitable muhurat, and share the date and hour with you in advance so you can join the live telecast.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and punyahavachana, then take the sankalpa in your name, gotra and nakshatra. Agni is invoked and the kunda consecrated. The Narayana Sukta is chanted verse by verse, each line sealed with an ahuti of cow ghee. Samagri includes cow ghee, tila, akshata, navadhanya, tulasi, sandal, camphor, dry fruits and the prescribed samit wood. The rite closes with purnahuti, deep aradhana, mantra pushpam and prasadam distribution. You watch all of it live from wherever you are.
Choose your package on this page and enter your name, gotra if known, birth star and your sankalpa. Our team confirms the muhurat and sends you the live-stream link. On the day, qualified priests perform the homa at our Yagna Ashram in Coimbatore on your behalf, and you join from your home in any country. Afterwards, prasadam and an energised yantra are couriered to your address worldwide, free of charge.
