The Ritual and Its Weight
The Lalita Sahasranama Homa takes the thousand names of Sri Lalita Tripurasundari — the hymn revealed in the Brahmanda Purana — and turns each one into an oblation. The priest speaks a name. Ghee meets the flame. Then the next name, and the next, until all thousand have passed through the fire. Chanting the Sahasranama is itself an old and beloved practice; offering it as a homa is the fuller form, where sound and fire carry the invocation together. This is why the lalita sahasranama homam is counted among the great Maha rites of the Sri Vidya tradition.
Each name is a facet of the Mother — her form, her weapons, her mercy, her seat in the Sri Chakra, her presence in the subtle body of the one who worships her. To hear them all in sequence is to be led slowly around the whole of her. Devotees turn to this homa not to fix one narrow problem but to reorder the inner life: to soften the heart, steady the mind, and place themselves in the current of her grace. It is a rite of devotion first.

चिदग्निकुण्डसम्भूता देवकार्यसमुद्यता ॥ Salutations to the Auspicious Mother, the great Empress seated on the glorious lion-throne, who arose from the fire-pit of pure consciousness and rises to accomplish the work of the gods.
