Also spelled Dattatreya Homam
दत्तात्रेय होमFor the seeker who asks for a guru. Fire offered to Dattatreya, in whom Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva stand as one.
The Dattatreya Homa is a fire ritual offered to Lord Dattatreya, the Adi Guru — the first teacher, in whom the three great powers of creation, sustenance and dissolution stand in a single form. Where other homas ask for a specific fruit, this one asks for guidance. The seeker who has read much and understood little, who sits for sadhana and finds the mind wandering, who senses a door but cannot find the handle, turns to Datta. Tradition holds that he comes quietly, often unrecognised, and that the fire is one of the oldest ways of calling him.
Ghee meets flame while the Datta mantra is chanted in measured rounds, and the offerings are made in your name and gotra. The Dattatreya pooja is prescribed for those walking a devotional path — to steady the practice, to soften the ego that resists a teacher, and to clear the stale obstructions that gather across a life. You watch the whole rite by live telecast from our Yagna Ashram in Coimbatore. The prasadam and an energised yantra reach you afterwards, wherever in the world you are.

The Datta mantra is chanted for quietening of the restless mind and for the calm that lets devotion take root.
Datta learned from twenty-four teachers in the natural world. His homa is offered for humility — the willingness to receive instruction from anywhere.
Dattatreya pooja benefits are traditionally invoked when the same difficulty keeps returning and no ordinary remedy seems to touch it.
Devotees offer this homa when walking through fear, confusion or a dark season, seeking Datta's presence as shelter.

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.
